                                               Infantry. He had 2 cards. One card
                                               has James or Joseph with his
                                               granddaughter Nancy C.     
                                               WRISTON (spelled WRITSTON)
                                         listed.  The other card has 8 Aug.
                                              1887 as the date of payment. His
                                              widow was listed on this card as
                                              Nancy C. WRISTON also. One
                                              card also states that he was in 
                                               F. Co., 10th Illinois Cavalry.  The
                                               date on the card for "invalid" was
                                               11Jan 1889 (?). A granddaughter
                                              Carrie D. Chambers is listed.  There
                                              is also a date of 8 Aug 1907 for
                                              the Nancy C. WRISTON (minor).

                                              1.  Alfred WRISTON enlisted on 18 Oct 1861 
                                                   as a private in the UNION ARMY. He was
                                                   with Company F, 10th Calvary Regiment
                                                   of the Illinois Volunteers.  He was 41 years
                                                   old, 5'7" tall with dark hair, dark eyes, and
                                                   a dark complexion.  He was a farmer, born
                                                   in South Carolina.  He mustered out on 31
                                                   Dec 1861 at Camp Butler, IL.  His stated
                                                   that his residence was Marinetown in
                                                   Madison Co., IL.  After mustering out, and
                                                   because the company was being 
                                                   reorganized, he re-enlisted as a "vet". He 
                                                   was apparently "dishonorably discharged"
                                                   on 15 April 1863.

                                         2.  Joseph WRISTON  was "mustered in" on
                                                   18 Oct 1861 at Marinetown, Madison Co.
                                                   IL for a 3 year period. He mustered out
                                                   on 31 Dec 1861 at Camp Butler by Capt.
                                                   Watson.  His residence was Marinetown,
                                                   Madison Co., IL and he re-enlisted when
                                                   the company was re-organized.  He was
                                                   in Company F., 10th Calvary Regiment of
                                                   the Illinois Volunteers.  He was 22 years
                                                   old, 5'9" tall with dark hair, blue eyes, and
                                                   a dark complexion.  He was a farmer born
                                                   in Illinois.  There are 2 sets of papers on
                                                   Joseph. He was mustered out at San
                                                   Antonio, TX on 22 Nov 1865.  He went
                                                   from a Frivate to a Sergeant.

                                          3.  James G. RISTON Company F.  He was
                                                   either in the 145th Infantry or the 10th 
                                                   Calvary.  One source states he was in
                                                   the 145th Infantry.  There is no descrip-
                                                   tion of him.  He joined on 20 May 1864
                                                   for 100 days only at Carbondale, IL.  His
                                                   residence was Carbondale, Jackson Co.,
                                                   IL.  He was mustered out on 23 Sept
                                                   1864 at Camp Butler IL by Lieut.
                                                   Montgomery. He also served with the
                                                   145th IL. Inf. H. Co. for the Union Army.

                                          4.  Peter LYNCH (my      maternal great grand-
                                                  father) Co.      D 1st Illinois Light Artillery
                                                  Illinois Volunteer. He was enlisted by a
                                                  Major C. J. Stolbrand in Chicago, IL. on
                                                  7 Dec 1863 and was to serve for 3
                                                  years.  He was from Ireland and was
                                                  5'9" tall with a fair complexion, blue
                                                  eyes and dark hair.  When he enlisted
                                                  he was a painter.  It was recommended
                                                  that he be discharged but was made
                                                  "fit" for duty in the invalid corps. He was
                                                  discharged on 10 Mar 1864 by Brig.Gen.
                                                       J. White on that date in Springfield, IL.

                                              IN THE CIVIL WAR PENSION FILE:
                                              1. Benjamin P. SCANNEL  H Co., 72nd
                                                    Indiana Infantry.  His wife was Sarah
                                                    J. RISTON.  He first applied for a pension
      																						on 25 July 1872.  His "widow" applied on 27
																						       Oct 1887.  His grandson was Alex HARPER.
                                IOWA
                                           
                                                       1.  David SIEGRIST  age 41 enlisted
                                                            as a Private on 23 Apr 1863 in H.
                                                            Co., 1st Infantry Reg. IA.  He was
                                                            mustered out on 21 Aug 1864 in
                                                            St. Louis, MO.  He received a
                                                            pension on 13 Jan 1890 for being
                                                            in the Union Army for Iowa.  This
                                                            MAY BE MY GREAT      GREAT 
                                                            GRANDFATHER.
     
      
              MARYLAND
               IN THE CIVIL WAR PENSION FILE
                           1. William T. RISTON A and B
                                     11th MD Infantry / widow Sarah E. RISTON.      26 Aug
                                     1892 / Feb 11 1909.  He was an invalid injured in the
                                     war. With "B" Company,  He was "out on 29 Sept. 1864.
                                     With "A" Company, he was out on 15 June 1865.
                                   2.  Thomas H. WRISTON, E. Co. 45th MD Infantry 26 Dec 1879

                                       probably a duplicate.

                            listed as an invalid.

                   
NEW YORK
   
                      1.  John RISTON  age 18 enlisted as a
                                Private on 5 Jan 1864 from Brooklyn,
                                New York.  He was in the 20th Light
                                Artillery Reg. NY and was mustered
                                out on 31 July 1865.

                            2.  Theodore RISTON age 22 enlisted
                               as a Private on 6 June 1864 from
                               the 11th Congressional District, NY.
                               He served NY and was transferred
                               to D Co., 65th Infantry Reg. NY. He
                               also served in the 67th NY Infantry
                               with Co. D.  

                                

         NORTH CAROLINA
                   
1.  Charles W. WRISTON enlisted in the
                                             Confederate Army on 30 Sept 1861 at
                                             age 21 from Mecklenburg Co., NC.  He
                                             was a private and was killed at the
                                             courthouse steps in Spotslyvania, VA.
                                             Charles was a "Brickman".  He was
                                             promoted to a Full Corporal on 22
                                             April 1862 and to a Full Sargaent on
                                             1 Sept 1863.  He died on 21 May 1864.

                                Corporal.
